Register a Business/Company Name:
To
start trading online you will need to register your
business/company name in the state or territory you
intend to operate. Click

Tip: Try and come up with a Business Name that
matches an available domain name (For example: My
Online Business Pty Ltd has a domain name:
www.myonlinebusiness.com.au) To see if your
domain name is available, click
here.
Once you have created a Company/Business Name, you
will be given an ACN/ABN.
Register a Domain Name:
Your
domain name is your address on the internet and
gives you an online identity or brand. It's a
valuable part of your business identity and an
important marketing tool.
If you wish to buy a .com.au or .net.au domain name,
you must be a commercial entity and possess either
an ACN or ABN.

Create a Bank Account:
All
online businesses MUST have a bank account.
Please contact your bank to setup a business account.
You will need various forms of identification (i.e.
Passport, Drivers License, Bills etc) as well as
your ACN/ABN.
Setting up a bank account will enable you to accept
Cheque/Money Orders, Direct Deposits & Credit Card
payments if you have this linked to your account.
My Online Business can integrate credit card
payments through your Bank's Payment Gateway
service, if your bank offers this service.
Create a
PayPal Account:
The
majority of buyers on the internet prefer to use
PayPal as their preferred payment option, so it
makes sense to setup a PayPal account.

www.paypal.com. Make sure you have your
bank account setup before creating a PayPal account.
My Online Business integrates directly with PayPal
and can automatically match payments with auctions
to generate orders.
Choose a shipping service:
There
are many shipping services to choose from:
Australia Post,
Toll IPEC,
DHL,
TNT,
FedEx,
Australian Air Express,
Star Track Express,
Couriers
Please, etc and it's completely up to you which
shipping service you want to use.
My Online Business directly integrates with
Australia Post eParcel & Toll IPEC Road Express
services, so if you choose one of these services,
please follow these steps to setup your account:

Call Australia Post on 131 118 to setup
an eParcel contract. Australia Post will
assign an Account Manager who will look after
your account.
Once you have an account setup, your
representative will provide you with a Request
Form or you can simply click
here to download the
Australia Post New Client Setup Request Form,
fill it out and fax it to us on +61 3
8368 2499 and post back the original to us
(My Online Business, PO Box 518, Altona North,
VIC 3025).
We will submit your request form to the
Australia Post eParcel support team where they
will process your request.
As soon as we hear back from the Australia Post
eParcel support team, we will contact you with
the details you need to enter into our system. |
How to
setup an Toll
IPEC Road Express Account:

representative in your state.
Your representative will create an account for
you and give you a pricing schedule. |
What
ever service you use, request their Rates Table
which tells you how much it will cost you to send
your items. My Online Business allows you to
enter these rates into the system so you can keep
track of how much you are being charged for postage.
Register Shopping Comparison Site:
There
are many popular shopping comparison website to
advertise your products. The 3 most popular
sites are:
Shopping.com,
Myshopping.com.au &
Getprice.com.au.
My Online Business automatically generates Data
Feeds for all of the above price comparison websites
for the inventory displayed on your website.
